22-Sep-08 - up to Buckingham to put issue 7 of YES CHEF! to bed or, at least that part of it which had actually come in from our contributors. A series of mad 'phone calls brought in bits and pieces, but two restaurants in Spain and Italy responded in the traditional style: one suggested we use pictures from their website (which would have printed about the size of a postage stamp), and the other didn't reply at all. There was no response from either to my follow-up e-mails. I mean, don't these people want the free publicity? But we have got Paul Bocuse, Heston Blumenthal and a recipe for seaweed, amongst other things (snail caviar, for example). You can subscribe to the mag on the website but it's also being distributed by John Menzies for this issue, so it'll be in selected newsagents as well. Fingers crossed! Stayed over at the Travelodge, which is cheap and cheerful (but with rip-off wifi charges) and had a pub dinner at the The Crown in Tingewick - gnice gnocchi and a bottle of Argentinian Malbec. Blazing log fire, too.
